Every year on Memorial Day, Kentland marks another anniversary of 100% Volunteer staffing since 5/26/1995 but we also stop to honor the true meaning of the holiday. This year, we were joined by Shannon and her daughters as we dedicated the Engine bay memorial to Chris Slutman. Chris was an active member of KVFD and FDNY, serving as a SSGT in the USMC when he was killed in Afghanistan.

The plaque installed under his Kentland gear reads:

In memory of Christopher Kenley Aldric Slutman who made the ultimate sacrifice in service of his country. Chris dedicated a lifetime to helping others, leaving an indelible mark on those he touched. His commitment to family, community, and country stands as a shining example for all.
