Engine 331 Filling The Box This Afternoon

This afternoon at 1230 hours #Engine331 was dispatched to Eight O’Clock Coffee for the reports of alarm bells sounding. Upon arriving Engine 331 observed brown smoke coming from the roof vents as they were flagged down by an employee. Workers advised Engine 331 that there was a fire in the building. Engine 331 #filledthebox and laid out from a hydrant in the yard. #RescueEngine33 was added as the second due engine on the box and picked up the engines line. The hydrant in the yard ended up being a bad hydrant and the drivers from Engine 331 and Rescue Engine 33 quickly came up with a plan to run hose through the gate out to Pennsy Drive where the Rescue Engine was able to pick up another hydrant. The crew from 331 stretched 500 feet of the #DetroitBundleload into the building where they located a coffee hopper that had a motor on fire. The Rescue Engine was assigned to the Ventilation group where they worked with staff to open up the roof vents as well as hydro venting from a scuttle hatch on the third floor.
