Engine and Tower Respond to Fatal House Fire in 8’s Area

As the members from 33 we getting ready to sit down to lunch the pre-alerts dropped at Station 33 for Box 08-03 reported house on fire in the area of Cabin Branch Drive and Wilburn Drive. Tower 33 was alerted as the first due truck. While en route PSC advised units they were getting an updated address in the 6400 block of Wilburn Drive, as well as getting reports of people trapped. First arriving engine went on the scene of a 2 story wood frame dwelling with smoke showing from the basement and asked for the working fire dispatch, adding Engine 331 to the call. Tower 33 Arrived on the scene and went right to work. The interior crew made entry side to the basement and met up with Engine 5 in the basement. Units located a body beyond help in the basement and it was left in place for the investigators. Tower 33 exterior team placed 48 feet of ground ladders as well as opened windows then joined the interior team and continued to search. Units on the first floor located a second victim who was removed to E.M.S units that were standing by. Engine 33 took a position on the exterior of the house until they were cleared 20 mins into the fire. tower 33 remained on the scene while the investigators determined the cause.
