Engine 331 Runs Double Fatal House Fire in Company 48’s First Due

at 6 pm PSC dispatched units from the first battalion and surrounding areas to box 48-10 for a house on fire in the 6400 block of Inlet Street. While en route PSC advised units they were getting calls for a basement fire with occupants possibly trapped in the basement. First arriving Engine arrived on the scene with a 1 story type 3 with fire showing from the first floor and the basement. The Working Fire Dispatched was started adding Engine Company 33 to the run. Engine 331 picked up their own hydrant and advanced the 4000′ 1.5″ to the front door. Engine 331 was meet with fire at the door. While units were in the basement attempting to make rescues and extinguish the fire in the basement 33’s line made an aggressive attach on the fire on the first floor. Despite units best efforts the two victims were pronounced dead at the hospital. Engine 331 operated on scene for about 2 hours before returning home. Rescue Engine 33 was transferred to station 48 for the duration of the incident.
