Engine Company First Arriving for a House Fire

As the men were finalizing dinner plans on June 17th, they were alerted to the 7300 block of Hastings Drive for the reported house on fire. Engine 331 responded as the 2nd due engine with 6 men. The wagon from 33 was the first arriving engine company and found a split foyer, single family dwelling with smoke showing. The crew stretched the 400’ preconnected hoseline to the structure where they were met with smoke conditions that created zero visibility. The lineman and backup men pushed to the bravo- charlie corner, where they encountered advanced fire conditions in a bedroom, extending to the hallway. Engine 331’s crew got a knock on the fire and remained on scene to assist with overhaul before packing up and returning to service. This was the 3rd fire in just over 24 hours for the members of Company 33. While the weekend was busy with fires, training, and various other calls, the men of 33 returned home and prepared for whatever the rest of the weekend may bring them.
