First Day of the New Year Brings The First Fire of the New Year For Engine and Truck 33

While the members staffing 33 for the first day of the New Year were getting ready to get lunch PSC dropped Reserve Truck 33, as the third due truck, for the report of a house on fire in the 6600 block of Lacona Street, on box 26-23. While en route PSC advised units that they received a second call for “heavy black smoke coming from the attic”. First arriving units went on the scene of a split level house with smoke showing, and asked for The Working Fire Dispatch adding Engine 331 to the run. Truck 33 arrived on the scene dividing into an interior team and exterior team. The exterior team placed over 75 feet of ladders to side C and D of the structure. The Interior team made their way to side C where they entered the structure through the basement access. Truck 33 opened up the basement where the fire had started. Engine 331 arrived on the scene and hooked up to Engine 23 for a water supply while the crew stretched the 400 to the rear of the house. Command told Engine 331 to make entry in the basement and work with Truck 33. Crews knocked the fire in the basement then advanced to division 1 where they continued to extinguish fire. Engine and Truck 33 cleared the scene at 1349 after operating for just over 2 hours.
