Truck 33 Takes in 55 House Fire on the Working Fire Dispatch

At 1337 hours, units from the 4th Battalion were alerted to respond for the home owner reporting smoke coming from the house in the 4400 block of 39th Street, on box 55-07. Engine Co 55 went on the scene of the 2-story cape cod with smoke showing on the first floor, and upon completion of the 360, reported “smoking showing” from the basement and crawl space on Side C. With no exterior basement entrance, crews had to make access to the lowest level from the interior. The Working Fire Dispatch was sounded and Truck 33 responded to the scene. Knowing how tight the streets in the area Truck 33 (as usual) found great Side C positioning by going 1 street past the incident and coming around. Having gathered the equipment for RIT, the crew set up and started to take the windows on the first floor to alleviate the heat that was building up on interior crews. Command sounded a Task Force Alarm and asked the crew from Truck 33 to work in the basement. The Truck driver met up with Truck 9 and went to the roof to open up, while the rest of Truck 33 worked with Engine Company 12 in the basement. Truck 33 found fire in the basement and opened up to provide access, then performed a secondary of the house with negative results. Truck 33 returned to The Landover Road Fire House at 1519 hours.
