2nd Alarm of Fire for Engine Company 33 In Seabrook Acres

Engine 331 was just about to clear the scene of an accident in the first due when PSC dropped 3 tones and announced a box alarm in the 5400 block of Whitfield Chapel Road, box 28-06. A notorious complex that’s been home to many multi alarm fires over the years. With Reports of multiple calls coming into the 911 center Engine Company 33 proceeded to Company 28’s area to be picked up on the Working Fire Dispatch. First arriving units went on the scene with a 3 story Garden Apartment with smoke showing from the second and third floor. Command Asked for the Working Fire Dispatch just as Engine 331 was about to pull into the complex. Engine 331 laid out assuming 3rd due Engine company responsibilities and took position on the front side of the building, which command had established would be the C side. Engine 331 rapidly deployed the 250’ 1 ½” pre-connect to the third floor of the apartment building. The Driver of Engine 331 charged the line and placed both ground ladders on the engine to a window and balcony. Once on the third floor the crew from Engine 331 were met with low visibility in unit 304. Engine 331 worked with truck 14 in opening up the unit. The officer from 33 made his way to a master bedroom where he forced a door and encountered a bedroom on fire. The lineman from 33 made his way to the bedroom and began extinguishing fire in the bedroom, bathroom, and a closet. Engine 331 operated on the third floor for the duration of the event with a total pump time of just over an hour. Lines were re-racked and The Engine from 33 returned The Engine House on Landover Road where they continued to put ink in the log book to continue the busy day.
