Department Mourns Sudden Passing of President and Asst. Chief John Burns

Celebration of the Life of AFC/President John Burns
The original anouncement was as follows:
It is with deep regret that the Kentland Volunteer Fire Department must announce the passing of our President and Assistant Chief John Burns. John suffered a sudden and unexpected medical emergency on Sunday October 23rd in the evening at the firehouse, and was taken to Bowie Health Center.
From there, he was transferred to PG Hospital where his condition deteriorated. On Monday night he was flown to Baltimore Shock Trauma Center. After evaluation and procedures there, the medical staff was unable to keep John with us and his family.
John being dedicated to public service and to the well-being of others is an organ donor, and is going to help many families in the very near future. John was also a dispatcher with Prince George’s County Public Safety Communications.
Services have been announced and are as follows:
Viewing
A viewing will be held at Beall Funeral Home, 6512 Crain Hwy, Bowie, MD 20715, on Monday, October 30th from 3:31-5:30pm and 7-9pm.
Fire Department Memorial Service
A Fire Department Memorial Service will be held at Beall Funeral Home at 8pm on Monday, October 30th
Honor Ride
A procession will leave Beall Funeral Home at approximately 10:15 a.m. on Tuesday, October 31st, proceeding to Public Safety Communications (17321 Melford Blvd, Bowie, Maryland 20715) at approximately 10:30am and then past Company 33 at 7701 Landover Road at approximately 11:00am. The procession is expected to arrive at Fort Lincoln Cemetery (3401 Bladensburg Rd, Brentwood, MD 20722) by Noon.
Repast
A repast will be held at Company 33 7701 Landover Road, following services at Fort Lincoln.
