3rd Alarm of Fire for Tower 33: 15444 Depot Lane

After a busy morning of accidents and fire alarms the crew from the Landover Road firehouse was backing into quarters when PSC dispatched 15444 Deputy Lane for the reports of a storage warehouse on fire. First arriving units went on scene and had fire showing from multiple storage units in a warehouse style building. Within minutes of being on scene the second alarm of fire was transmitted bringing Tower Ladder 33 to the scene with 6 volunteers. While responding to the box water supply units were being started do to issue getting first in engines a secure water supply. As the Tower approached the scene access was found to side charlie of the building via a path running off Marlboro Pike that lead to a parking lot that gave units access to side charlie. Two engine companies arriving with the tower were able to lay out supply line down the same path as the tower traveled giving a secure water supply on a separate water main system than the rest of the assignment was using. Once the tower navigated the path the crew went to work. The tower began setting up to go into heavy duty operations and knock back the advancing fire. The crew from the tower began cutting down chain link fences making access for the tower boom to operate as well as incoming engine companies to stretch hose lines to the fire. Once through the fences the crew began gaining access to all of the locked storage units. The tower ladder received water the stang gun was put in service knocking back the fire. A good knock was put on the fire and crews re-entered the building to finish opening up the remaining storage units that still held fire. Units operated for close to 5 hours to bring the fire under control and complete overhaul operations. By the end of the fire a 3rd alarm of fire had been struck and over 100 personnel were on scene.
