Engine, Tower, and Pumper Start the New Year Off With Their First Fire: 7909 Legation Rd

Around 1500 hours, while some members were washing the rigs and the pumper was on the road conducting a “long line” drill, Engine 331, Engine 332, and Tower 33 were alerted for a house on fire at 7929 Legation Rd in Company 28’s area. Due to another box alarm, units from 33 were dispatched as the first and second engines, and the first due special service (Engine 332 requested to bump back to 4th, due to being out of position, and operated as such). As units approached the scene, a large column of smoke indicated a high likelihood of a working fire. Engine Co 33 and Tower 33 arrived first, along with Battalion Chief 881 to the front of the 2 story house to find fire showing from the roof/attic area. Engine 331 stretched the Kentland Front Bumper Line into the structure where they encountered fire conditions throughout the attic area, and set about extinguishing the fire. Tower 33 went to work throwing several ground ladders and opening up inside for the Engine crew, who quickly extinguished the first fire of 2016, but certainly not the last…
