Fire on Two Floor of A First Due Duplex: 7217 East Forest Rd

At 1100 hours, the box alarm was transmitted for 7217 East Forest Road in the neighborhood behind the firehouse. The Engine Company from Kentland responded into the first due with 7 volunteers and arrived to find a two story, wood frame duplex with smoke and fire showing from the first and second floors. The members stretched two pre-connected 1.5″ hand lines and quickly extinguished all fire on the interior, as well as extension to the exterior siding. Units operated for a couple of hours to mop up and overhaul the house. During this fire, the Kentland Volunteer Fire Department was operating using Engine 92 from the Bladensburg Volunteer Fire Department, and we send our sincerest thanks to them for letting us use equipment in a time of need.
