Wednesday, November 5, 2008 - It is with the deepest of regret and sorrow that the Officers and Membership of the Kentland Volunteer Fire Department, Incorporated, Companies 33/46 announce the passing of Past President and Department Chaplain Robert (Scotty) (Dad) McDermott. He passed this Tuesday November 4th, 2008 at the Forsyth Medical Center. Mr. McDermott was born in Warren, Ohio. He served our great Country in the United States Marine Corps for a total of six years. He joined the Kentland Volunteer Fire Department, Station 33, in late 1960. He was affectionately known as "Dad" to all of the firemen who served with him. He was inducted into the Prince George's County Volunteer Firemens Association Hall of Fame in 1988 for his dedication and service to the citizens of Prince George's County, Maryland. He was also a C&P Telephone installer and repairman for a total of 38 years. Besides serving his community as a fireman, he served as a member of the Landover Hills Baptist Church where he was the head of trustees, usher and assisted in children's ministry. For the past years he has resided in North Carolina. Mr. McDermott leaves behind his wife of 54 years, two children and a number of grandchildren/great-grandchildren. He touched many souls and will be greatly missed. Arrangements are as follows:
